So here it is…the first solo record. The record is now available in the music section or over at bandcamp (http://chriscretella.bandcamp.com/album/going-nowhere). The culmination of many hours spent idling. Idling at desks, idling in cars…moving a few feet. Stopping. Moving a few feet more…stopping again. Well…that’s not necessarily true. Some work did go into this. Quite a bit actually…well over a year’s worth. It started right after I finished grad school. Coming down from two years of constant going, going, going was a bit rough (withdrawl?). All of a sudden there was this thing called free time…and not feeling exhausted. This was great but my brain was mush. I think it had something to do with the going, going, going. In the meantime I was back in the workaday world; 9-5, cubicles, horrible commuting daily, all that good stuff. Needless to say it wasn’t helping the withdrawl any. And then there was the rut. A rut deep enough to furnish. This music was the ladder I used for getting out of that rut. It is music inspired by all that idling. Ten pieces that move a few feet then stop. Move a few feet more…stop again. May you never have to drive through the insurance capital during rush hour.
