Bio

Chris Cretella (b. 1977) is a guitarist/improviser/composer working and lurking in all sorts of corners of music.

Current projects include but are not limited to: serial grind, hip hop beats constructed from Twilight Zone score samples, a cumbia band, interpreting the compositions of Django Reinhardt both solo and duo with Brian Slattery, holding the guitar chair in Dr. Caterwauls Cadre of Clairvoyant Claptraps, and a number of improvising collaborations with such fine folks as Zach Rowden, Joe Morris, Lautaro Mantilla, Adam Matlock, Anne Rhodes, Dave Parmelee, and Kelly L’Heureux.

Chris has played in the US and Europe at such venues as the Stone, the State House, and the Bimhuis. He has a B.A. in music from Southern Connecticut State University and an M.M. in contemporary improvisation from the New England Conservatory of Music.
